Halloween is all about the kids, costumes, and candy, and most of the time, your pet is completely forgotten. But that's going to change this year, since we've compiled a list of 5 Pawsome Halloween Games to include your furry family members in the Halloween festivities!
(Fun note: My fur baby, named Cutecumber, has a major issue with children “trying to steal her candy”😁).
#1. Costume pawrty (Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
A dog-friendly costume party is a great opportunity to show off your pet's Halloween outfit. You may bring some of his/her canine pals and have them bob for apples, with a reward for the best-dressed dog–human pair. Explore the most recent Halloween costume trends and get the party started!
#2. Trick or treat (Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
Bring your extroverted dog/cat with you on a stroll while the kids are trick-or-treating! It's a great opportunity for him/her to show off their individual outfits or to incorporate them in a hilarious family costume. If you and your dog/cat are staying at home on Halloween, make sure you have a fence sign or a door sign in place so he/she doesn't go up to the trick-or-treaters or dash out the door.
#3. Bobbin' for bones (Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
Apples should not be bobbed for by dogs since they might cause choking. Instead, give your dog and their pals the opportunity to bob for "bones!" They may be any goodies, but calling them bones for Halloween is creepier.
Fill several big bowls with water and a variety of goodies. Allow the dogs to go get their goodies. This is a game that is best played with a smaller group. If you're playing with a large bunch of dogs, make sure you have enough bowls.
Also, check with your human friends to see whether their dogs are food aggressive. Any dogs that are very concerned with food guarding should skip this one.
#4. Tear apart the zombie (Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️)
This is a fun outdoor game that takes some planning ahead of time. Get a few large stuffed dog safe toys–preferably zombie-themed Halloween ones–and gut them as much as you can. Replace the fluffy filling with dog biscuits once the fluffy stuffing has been removed.
Sew the toys back together with a few stitches so that they may be easily torn open with little effort. Allow all of the puppies to go about the backyard, hunting down and tearing the zombies limb from limb while enjoying their yummy flesh–erm, snacks.
Make sure the toys aren't poisonous to dogs, that the plush animals don't contain components that the dogs may gnaw on, and that you keep a watch on the dogs to make sure they don't swallow the toy. It's recommended not to play this game if you have a dog that might eat the entire toy.
Some canine personalities are more suited to this game than others, and you know your dog's personality better than anybody else. So you'll be able to tell whether it's a poor idea. Trust your gut feelings.
#5. Werewolf competition (Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
Fortunately, none of our dogs will transform into human-eating monsters when they see a full moon. The capacity to howl is something that our domestic dogs share with these otherworldly beings.
Is your dog possessed by the sound of a siren? What if you howled? Do whatever makes your dog awoo, then invite the other dogs to join in to see who can howl the most like a werewolf!
Although this is a loud activity, it may be amusing to watch and engage in with a pack of howling dogs. Give the dog who howls the spookiest a special reward–even though we know you'll treat them all! How about a tasty treat prepared from scratch?
Above all, have a good time with it! Halloween may be a stressful time for your dog, so do your best to make it as pleasant and joyful as possible for them and their buddies. Never push your dog to wear a costume if it doesn't want to. It's more essential for your dog to have a good time than for them to wear a costume.
